THE KILN ROOM - EXPERT FIRING SERVICE - SOUTH EAST MELBOURNE
The Kiln Room, 10 Boileau Street, Keysborough, Vic, 3173
Usually… OPEN 11am until 3pm Mondays and Thursdays for firing drop offs and pick ups.
six simple steps…
ONE - PREPARE YOUR WORK
Your work must be completely dry before it can be put in the kiln. This is called ‘bone dry’ and the work is very fragile. Treat it with care.
Please do not bring wet or damp work.
Make sure your work is signed on the base with your makers mark.
Please read THIS!
TWO - KNOW YOUR CLAY AND GLAZE
It is important that you know which clay and glaze you are using.
We will ask you some questions about this when you drop your work off.
Photos of clay bag label and glaze container labels are very helpful. They have temperature/cone values on them.
Make sure bases are completely free of glaze.
THREE - PACK YOUR WORK CAREFULLY
Pack your work carefully with tissue paper or clean second hand bubble wrap.
We will not accept work wrapped in dusty, dirty or smelly packaging.
Fruit boxes are ideal, can stack and are easy to handle.
Name your box.
FOUR - DROP YOUR WORK TO THE KILN ROOM
Drop your work off during open hours, please check website for details - hours may vary.
Please sms Pie on 0417115009 to let her know you are coming.
We will take your contact details… name, email address and mobile number and give you an indication of how long your work will take.
FIVE - WE WILL FIRE IT
We will carefully unpack your work, fire it and repack it into your boxes.
We will send you an SMS when your work is complete and ready to pick up.
It usually takes less than a week :)
Please wait for this notification. Sometimes there are situations when your firing may be delayed - power fails etc.
SIX - PICK WORK UP FROM THE KILN ROOM
You will receive an SMS when your work is ready for collection.
We will also email you an invoice to be paid upon receipt (this may arrive after you have picked up your work).
